Cooling Tower #1

Cooling Tower #1

Dear Owners,

Please notice that we have started to work on another stage of the cooling tower project, so that the cooling tower # 1 will be off for two weeks, from June 28, 2010 until July 12, 2010 affecting the air conditioning service on buildings 1 & 2 during such period. In this stage we will adjust into automatic operation the flow control valves installed inside the condos and also the big pump on the tower will be replaced. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. You may have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

April Message from the SC

April Message from the SC

To: HOA Members of Sub-Regime 16A Date: April 30, 2010
From: Your Surveillance Committee

During the past two years some condo owners have challenged the way we allocate the condo portion of our dues. They believe the current method which is based on the total square footage of each condo conflicts with our By Laws.
They contend our dues should be allocated on a per door (1/65) basis. Read the rest of this entry

Thank you!

Thank you!

The Christmas Fund Committee would like to extend a big “thank you” to each and everyone who contributed to the 2009 16-A Christmas fund.  Through your generosity we were able to brighten the holiday season for 23 employees.

For the past 6 years, the owners at 16-A are asked to voluntarily contribute to Employee Christmas fund.  The money is distributed among the employees who work directly for us and for others who provide us services throughout the year.  Those who received gifts from the owners included our HOA staff, our maintenance man (Rafael) our gardeners, security staff, accounting person, Rosario (our maid), those who maintain our grounds which include those who mow, trim, fumigate, and rake. Gifts also were distributed to those who keep areas clean such as those who clean the pool, collect the garbage, and rake the beach.

Each recipient received an individual Christmas card, which was imprinted with a message from 16-A and a list of those who contributed.  Broad smiles, tears and “muchas gracias” were heart-warming for all of us.

This year 39 of the 62 condo owners along with 5 of the 18 Homes/Lots contributed to the fund.  The approximately $4,800 certainly was appreciated by our employees and extended beyond these individuals as several of the employees told us how they planned to use the money.

A special thanks goes to Jan Schoen (#216) who took the lead in contacting owners and sending out letters this past year.  Susan Baillon (#213) has agreed to take the lead for the 2010 year, along with the help of Jan Schoen, Hazel Frick (#400) and Patty Crawford (#222).  Gail Middlemiss has agreed to organize the 2010 Christmas Fund for the Homes and Lots.

Friends of Barron

Friends of Barron

Friends of Barron,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who helped to support the schools in Barron through many avenues – by donating time, effort, expertise and (especially) money. Through these combined efforts, we have been able to:

  •  provide new wiring & fans, a cistern and a water pump to the Pre School (90 students)
  • develop a community library in the elementary school (250 students) by renovating an unused, ill equiped and run down classroom.
And that is just so far this year!

Regarding the secondary school (120 students), our work is just beginning. We have committed to providing air conditioning in their badly overcrowded classrooms (there are 45 students in a space the size of your living room)and to assisting the community in raising funds for a new computer classroom. This project will involve building a new classroom, supplying the desks and chairs and providing approximately 40 computers (they already have received 23 computers through a government program but there is no where to set them up and no Internet service at the school, so they sit in boxes in the corner).

This is where you can help us raise funds by:

  • sponsoring some fund raising activity
  • donating money
Our goal is to assist Barron in raising money so they can qualify for the government “School Improvement Program”. This program provides 70% of the cost of a school project if the community can come up with the first 30%.  The cost of the new computer classroom is approximately 280,000 pesos of which the community would donate 84,000 pesos. So far, the Committee of the Fathers and Mothers of the Secondary Schools has raised 2500 pesos. They need a minimum of 25,000 pesos by March 15 to begin to qualify for the School Improvement Program. This is an election year in Mexico and projects such as these are very likely to be funded quickly. The resulting improvement in the secondary schools’ ability to educate kids is incalculable.

If you can help, please get in touch with me, Dale Lyster in Condo #117 (Phase 1, Las Lagunitas), d.lyster@shaw.ca or Dick McGuire in Condo 105, Las Lagunitas, richardmcg@aol.com. Checks can be made out to “Friends of Barron” and mailed to Dale in Canada, (Dale Lyster, 239
> Edgedale Dr NW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada  T3A-2R8) or you can visit our blog at www.FriendsofBarron.blogspot.com to donate and learn more about the work that has already been done in Barron and the needs it faces.

These kids deserve more than they presently have. Please help if you can.  Thank you.
